While the app is not completely free, the free version offers unlimited study of beginner kanji, radicals, hiragana, and katakana without any advertisements. The dictionary and all info screens are also freely accessible. By choosing to upgrade to the paid version, users gain access to advanced kanji levels and can create their own custom sets. Furthermore, the upgrade supports the ongoing development of this project.

Main Features

• Flashcard study: Users can memorize kanji in manageable sets and view stroke animations, readings, meanings, and examples. The app allows customization of themes, layouts, displayed actions, and swipe behavior. Additionally, users can assign study ratings to filter kanji based on their learning progress.
• Multiple-choice quizzes: This feature allows users to customize quizzes to include readings, meanings, example words or sentences. Quiz options such as JLPT, common vocabulary, and favorites are available for selection. The app adapts quiz times and distractors based on individual results. Further customization options include repeating wrong answers, auto-playing audio, and pausing after answering.
• Writing challenges: Users can enhance kanji recognition skills by challenging themselves to recall and write kanji. The app incorporates a finely-tuned stroke detection algorithm to help learn correct stroke order. Correct strokes snap into place and hints appear if needed. Users have the option to assess accuracy stroke by stroke or use the self-assessment mode.
• Quick kanji and word search: This feature enables users to search for kanji and words using readings, radicals, stroke counts, levels, and other criteria all within a single text field. The search is efficient and offline.
• Detailed info screens: Users can view animated strokes, readings, meanings, study time, and quiz statistics. Additionally, the app provides a breakdown of radicals found within each kanji and showcases example words, sentences, and names. Users can effortlessly navigate back using the breadcrumbs feature.
